This policy applies to the VOLT macOS application, our website, and any associated cloud services. By using VOLT, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account Information

Email address and display name provided during registration.

Usage & Analytics Data

AI provider names, token counts, cost aggregates, and timestamps. This data is anonymised and used to provide usage tracking features.

Device Information

macOS version, app version, and device identifiers for diagnostics and compatibility.

Payment Information

Processed by Stripe and/or Apple. VOLT does not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or other sensitive payment credentials.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

VOLT is built with a privacy-first architecture. We explicitly do not collect, transmit, or have access to:

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Service Delivery โ€” To provide, maintain, and improve VOLT's features and functionality.
  • Analytics โ€” To understand usage patterns, optimise performance, and develop new features.
  • Customer Support โ€” To respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical assistance.
  • Product Improvement โ€” To analyse aggregated, anonymised data for product development.
  • Communications โ€” To send service updates, security alerts, and (with your consent) marketing communications.
  • Legal Compliance โ€” To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Local Storage โ€” API keys are encrypted using AES-256 via macOS Keychain and never leave your device.
  • iCloud Sync โ€” Usage metadata (provider names, token counts, cost aggregates) may optionally sync via iCloud for cross-device access. This data does not include API keys or request content.
  • Infrastructure โ€” Where applicable, backend services are hosted on Australian infrastructure. Cloud data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest.
  • Access Controls โ€” We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption, access logging, and regular security reviews.

6. Third-Party Services

VOLT integrates with the following third-party services:

Payment processing. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy and PCI DSS compliance.

iCloud sync for usage metadata, App Store for distribution and in-app purchases. Subject to Apple's privacy policies.

7. International Data Transfers

As an Australian business, your data may be processed in Australia and other countries where our service providers operate (e.g., the United States for Stripe and Apple services).

We ensure that any international data transfers comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988. Where data is transferred to countries without equivalent privacy protections, we implement appropriate safeguards including contractual protections.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Australian Privacy Act 1988 (APPs)

Right to access, correct, and complain about handling of your personal information. You may also request that we stop using your information for direct marketing.

GDPR (EU/EEA Users)

Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. You may also withdraw consent at any time.

CCPA (California Users)

Right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, opt out of sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal information), and non-discrimination.

9. Cookies & Tracking

VOLT macOS App โ€” The desktop application does not use cookies or web-based tracking technologies.

Website โ€” Our website (lexylon.com) may use essential cookies for functionality and optional analytics cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

10. Children's Privacy

VOLT is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@volt.lexylon.com.

11. Data Retention

  • Active Accounts โ€” We retain your account data and usage metadata for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service.
  • Account Deletion โ€” Upon request, we will delete your account data within 30 days. Some anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.
  • Local Data โ€” Data stored locally on your Mac (including API keys in Keychain) is under your sole control and is not affected by account deletion.
  • Legal Requirements โ€” We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, dispute resolution).

12. Changes to Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of material changes via email or in-app notification.

The "Effective" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of VOLT after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
